My Credentials as a Mental Health
BA., Psychology/Religion, Carson Newman College, Jefferson City, TN 1980
MA., Professional Counseling, Richmont Graduate University, Chattanooga, TN 2004
LPC- MHSP, Tennessee Licensing Board, Nashville, TN 2008
I am a Chattanooga based Counselor. Since graduating with my Master’s degree from Richmont Graduate University in May of 2004 I have worked as a Christian counselor at Lighthouse Counseling/Lifeskills Center, in Chattanooga, TN; as a community Mental Health Professional at Highland Rivers in Dalton, GA, and at FamilyMenders in Chattanooga, TN, while pursuing my credentials as Licensed Professional Counselor and Mental Health Service Provider through the state of Tennessee.
As a professional therapist my education and unique experiences have prepared me to provide relationship help and individual psychotherapy. I work with a variety of intrapersonal and relationship issues that may include anxiety, depression, adjustment disorders, and various other concerns including forgiveness issues. I respect the beliefs of everyone and am available to work sensitively with people of all faiths as was my experience in the community mental health setting. My personal orientation is decidedly Christian and therefore, interventions will naturally be filtered through a Christian perspective.

My Counseling Perspectives
Relational Therapy - we move through the world in relationship to others
Attachment theory - we "got wired" through our earliest relationships
Narrative Therapy - we create meaning out of the experiences that form “our story" Cognitive Behavior Therapy - we can choose the thoughts we give attention to
